“Battle for Earth 7”
The Story
The story begins with the death of the king of Earth 7(Tyrus).
The successor is his closest companion- Cole- who is an old man and knows his rulership won’t be long.
His companion’s son (Adon) who is very young and inexperienced, is next in line after Cole for the throne.
Cole vows to prepare Adon the best he can before his demise.
Cole attempts to prepare young Adon for sovereignty through stories of his family’s lineage and the historic battles of Earth 7.
The Artwork
Battle for Earth 7 is a unique body of work that allows the art to tell the story.
As Muslims, we are forbidden to draw faces. So as an artist it was an incredible undertaking and opportunity to find other ways to express emotions.
I found through color and silhouettes the ability to convey the drama of a scene, and stripping the characters down to their actions was a profound revelation.
I fell in love with this way of telling a story. It propels the reader to engage more with the circumstances of the characters and places them in their shoes.
